Role description:
Red Rift is looking for a Art Director to break ground on a brand new AA project currently in pre-production. Genre is medieval battle royale/dungeon crawler/rpg. In this role, you will spearhead shaping the new world and its encounter spaces, design fantastic traversal playgrounds, craft interesting combat layouts, and surprise players with delightful moments of discovery. We're looking for someone who loves the craft of shaping space, attention, and tension in games. You'll be working alongside our passionate team of artists & gameplay designers to bridge the visual & combat vision of the game and bring the space to life.
Responsibilities:
- Define and drive the artistic vision and style of the game, ensuring a cohesive and captivating visual experience
- Lead and inspire a team of artists across various disciplines, including character design, environment art, animation, and UI
- Collaborate closely with the game design and development teams to align artistic vision with gameplay and technical requirements
- Oversee the entire art production pipeline, ensuring quality and consistency while meeting deadlines
- Provide feedback and mentorship to the art team, fostering a creative and efficient work environment
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in game art and graphics to keep the game competitive and visually innovative
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in game art direction or senior art roles, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work (dark fantasy projects be a plus)
- Proven experience leading and managing an art team in a game development setting
- Extensive knowledge of art processes from concept to final in-game assets
- Solid understanding of UI/UX design principles and how they contribute to player experience and game design
Even Better If You Have
- Shipped at least one project, ideally in the Action/RPG genre in a Art Director role
- A strong demonstrable portfolio of personal and/or professional work
- Experience in developing AAA games
- Experience in developing large open-world games
- Experience in Unreal 4/5 projects, both personal and/or professional.
